Cognitive development
Cognitive development is the process through which the child acquires and processes information from the environment, stores it, reprocesses it, uses it. It entails 4 main areas: reasoning, intelligence, language and memory. During the period between 0-6 years of age, according to Piaget, the child is engaged especially with two stages of development (according to his model): sensorimotor, during which the child moves from action through mainly reflexes to interacting with a goal; preoperational stage: where the child starts to think symbolically and engage in make-believe play. The characteristics of their thinking at this stage is still egocentric and mainly lacks logic.
